Hawaiian Pizza (Ham & Pineapple Pizza)
Description
Hawaiian Pizza (Ham & Pineapple Pizza) starts with a homemade everyday-style pizza dough, portioned into three equal balls. Each dough ball is stretched into a thin 10-inch circle on parchment paper. A thin layer of tomato sauce is applied, then topped with diced cooked ham and drained pineapple pieces before a generous sprinkle of shredded mozzarella cheese.
The pizzas are baked on a preheated pizza stone or baking steel at 500°F (260°C) until the crust is crisp and browned underneath, about 5 to 7 minutes. This high heat baking results in a nicely blistered crust with a chewy texture, complementing the juicy pineapple and melted cheese topping. The balance of savory ham with sweet pineapple adds a distinct flavor profile that defines Hawaiian pizza.
Finished pizzas should be sliced and served hot. This recipe makes about three 10-inch pizzas, making it suitable for sharing or storing as leftovers. It’s a straightforward approach ideal for those who enjoy combining fruit with meat toppings on pizza base.
Ingredients
- 1 batch pizza dough everyday style
Toppings
- 5-6 lices ham cooked, diced
- 1 C pineapple drained and blotted, diced
- 1 ½ C tomato sauce
- 2 C mozzarella cheese shredded
Instructions
- Make 1 batch of Everyday Pizza Dough.
- Add a baking steel or pizza stone to the bottom rack of the oven. Preheat oven to 500°F/260°C.
- Divide the dough into 3 equal balls.
- On a piece of parchment paper, stretch the dough ball into a disc about 10" in diameter.
- Spread a few tablespoon of tomato sauce on the dough, add sliced ham, pineapple, and sprinkle with cheese.
- Use a pizza peel to slide the pizza on the preheated pizza stone/baking steel and bake for 5-7 minutes, until the bottom is crisp and browned.
- Carefully remove pizza and slice. Serve hot.
- Repeat with the remaining dough.
Notes
- This recipe yields approximately three 10-inch pizzas, ideal for small gatherings or multiple meals.
- Drain and blot pineapple pieces to prevent excess moisture which can make the crust soggy.
- Make sure the oven and pizza stone are fully preheated to ensure crispy crust.
