Healthy 4-Ingredient Chocolate Mousse
Description
The Healthy 4-Ingredient Chocolate Mousse combines ripe avocados with raw cacao powder, pure maple syrup, and almond milk to create a smooth, creamy dessert base. By blending the peeled and pitted avocados with these ingredients until completely smooth, the mousse achieves a velvety texture without requiring baking or complex preparation. After chilling for at least an hour, the mousse firms up, offering a rich but light consistency that highlights the deep chocolate notes from the cacao. The use of almond milk adds a subtle nuttiness while keeping the mousse light.
The mousse's flavor is mildly sweetened by pure maple syrup, resulting in a balanced dessert that pairs well with toppings like grated dark chocolate or coconut whipped cream as suggested. The avocado's natural creaminess replaces traditional dairy, making the preparation suitable for those avoiding dairy products. The mousse can be served chilled from the refrigerator or even briefly thawed after freezing for a more frozen texture similar to ice cream.
This dessert is conveniently made in a food processor or blender, making preparation straightforward. Scraping the sides during blending ensures an even mixture. The mousse stores well for up to four days in the refrigerator, and the option to freeze it offers versatility in serving. The note on using honey, agave, or coconut palm nectar provides alternative sweetening options.
