Healthy Christmas Cookies

Report
These Healthy Christmas Cookies blend blended and whole oats with warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, along with orange zest and vanilla for festive flavor. The dough is enriched with butter and milk, then portioned into balls and lightly flattened before baking. The result is a spiced, chewy cookie that holds its shape without rising or spreading, making it ideal for decorating.

Description

Healthy Christmas Cookies use a combination of oat flour and whole oats to create a chewy texture infused with warm holiday spices such as cinnamon, ground ginger, and nutmeg. Orange zest adds a bright citrus note, complemented by vanilla extract, caster sugar, butter, and whole milk to form a soft dough. Baking at 180°C (360°F) for 12 minutes yields cookies that retain their shape and are slightly dense rather than spreading thin.

Since these cookies do not rise or spread, pressing the dough balls flat before baking is important to achieve even thickness and texture. Their mildly spiced flavor and chewy texture make them a fitting treat for holiday enjoyment or gift-giving.

Decoration options include drizzling melted chocolate or mixing in dried cranberries for extra festive appeal. The cookies store well in airtight containers for several days, allowing for advance baking and preparation.

This recipe is adaptable for gluten-free needs by using certified gluten-free oats and can be adjusted to taste by modifying the spice levels and additions.
