Healthy Flourless Brownies

Healthy Flourless Brownies combine ripe mashed bananas, almond butter, cocoa powder, and a pinch of sea salt to create a rich, dense treat without any flour. The natural sweetness of bananas replaces sugar, while almond butter adds moisture and binding. Baking produces a firm yet moist brownie with a deep chocolate flavor.

Description

Healthy Flourless Brownies rely on mashed bananas and almond butter as the base, blended with cocoa powder and egg to form a thick batter. The baking process sets the mixture into a firm, chocolate-rich dessert that maintains moisture from the bananas and almond butter. Adding a pinch of sea salt enhances the overall flavor profile.

These brownies are baked in an 8-by-8-inch dish lined with parchment, baked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 to 25 minutes until firm to the touch. Cooling them for at least 30 minutes before slicing helps achieve clean cuts and ensures the texture is set properly.

This recipe presents a way to enjoy brownies with reduced ingredients, no flour, and no refined sugars. They offer a dense texture that holds together well, making for an easy dessert or snack option that leverages natural sweetness and healthy fats.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 4 banana about 1 1/2 cups mashed, ripe
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 cup almond butter unsweetened, creamy
  • 1/2 cup cacao powder
  • 1 pinch salt sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line a 8” x 8” baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the bananas in a mixing bowl until creamy. It’s okay to leave the bananas chunky if you’re okay with it. Whisk the egg and almond butter into the mashed bananas and stir well until very well-combined. Add the cocoa powder and stir well until combined. Note that the cocoa powder won’t want to stir into the batter easily, so it will take a little bit of elbow grease to get it to all combine together.
  3. Transfer the batter to the parchment-lined baking dish and smooth into an even layer.
  4. Bake on the center rack of the preheated oven 20 to 25 minutes until the brownies feel firm when gently poked in the center.
  5. Allow brownies to cool at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.
