Healthy Instant Pot Turkey and Lentil Chili
Description
The recipe starts by browning ground turkey with diced onion, garlic paste, tomato paste, and salt in an Instant Pot or Dutch oven. After the turkey is cooked and onions softened, green lentils, chicken stock, tomato passata, diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, black pepper, black beans, green chiles with liquid, and water are added to the pot.
Pressure cooking for 15 minutes in the Instant Pot creates a thick, hearty chili where the lentils are tender but intact, blending with the savory ground turkey and a tomato-spiced base. The chili powder and cumin provide a mild warmth and subtle earthiness, complemented by the heat and flavor of green chiles. Black beans add richness and hearty texture.
The recipe allows for stove top or slow cooker alternatives with longer cooking times to develop flavors. Serving suggestions include optional sour cream topping. This chili offers a nutritious, flavorful meal option combining legumes and lean meat with vibrant tomato and spice notes.
