Herb Basil Pesto

Herb Basil Pesto blends fresh basil and additional herbs like parsley or spinach with grated Parmesan cheese, nuts such as pine nuts or walnuts, garlic, salt, and olive oil into a smooth, flavorful sauce. The combination creates a vibrant green pesto that can be used as a condiment or sauce for pasta, sandwiches, or other dishes.

Description

This Herb Basil Pesto starts with a base of firmly packed fresh basil leaves and a cup of other fresh herbs such as parsley or spinach. The herbs are combined with grated Parmesan or Romano cheese, quartered garlic cloves, pine nuts or a suitable nut substitute like walnuts or almonds, and salt. Olive oil is added gradually to facilitate blending the ingredients into a cohesive paste using a food processor.

The resulting pesto offers a rich, herbaceous flavor with creamy, nutty notes from the cheese and nuts. It can be served as a sauce for pasta, spread on bread, or used to complement grilled vegetables and meats.

Leftover pesto can be refrigerated for a few days or frozen in small portions to preserve freshness and allow easy access for future meals. Proper storage helps maintain the vibrant color and flavor.
