Hershey's Chocolate Cake Recipe
Description
This chocolate cake uses Special Dark cocoa powder to provide a robust chocolate base matched with muscovado sugar and all-purpose flour. Baking powder and baking soda provide rising power. Eggs, milk (or buttermilk), vegetable oil, and vanilla add moisture and richness. The mixing method includes beating wet and dry ingredients and integrating boiling water with instant coffee crystals, which deepens the chocolate notes and thins the batter for a light texture.
The batter is poured into greased and floured round cake pans and baked at 350°F until a toothpick confirms doneness. Cooling on wire racks ensures the cake sets properly before frosting or serving. This cake forms a traditional base suitable for chocolate frosting or using as a layer cake.
Pairing this cake with chocolate frosting enriches the flavor. The recipe is suited for standard cake pans to produce classic round layers typical of Hershey's chocolate cakes.
