Homemade Apple Crisp Recipe

Homemade Apple Crisp combines a spiced apple filling tossed with lemon juice and coated in flour and sugars, with a crumbly topping of oats, pecans, and butter. Baked until golden and tender, it finishes with a drizzle of caramel sauce and optional flaky sea salt and vanilla ice cream, creating a warm, comforting dessert with layers of texture and flavor.

Description

This Apple Crisp Recipe starts by tossing sliced apples with lemon juice, flour, sugar, and a mixture of warm spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice. This coating thickens the apples and infuses them with aromatic notes during baking.

The topping is made from flour, brown and granulated sugars, oats, chopped pecans, baking powder, and spices. Cold butter is cut into this mixture to create a coarse crumb texture that bakes into a golden, crisp layer. When baked together, the tender, spiced apples beneath are complemented by the crunchy, nutty topping.

The finished crisp is served warm with salted caramel sauce drizzled on top and can be enhanced with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This combination enriches the dessert with sweet, salty, and creamy flavors for a satisfying finish.
