Homemade Brownie Mix

This Homemade Brownie Mix prepares a dry blend of flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and vegetable shortening as a base for quick brownies. Baking the mix with eggs, vanilla, and melted butter results in moist brownies with cocoa flavor that can be customized with optional add-ins like nuts or chocolate chips. The mix stores well for months, making it convenient for baking batches when desired.

Description

The Homemade Brownie Mix combines all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, and vegetable shortening to create a ready-to-bake dry mix. The shortening is cut into the dry ingredients for an even distribution and texture.

When ready to bake, the mix is combined with eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Stirring until smooth, the batter is poured into a parchment-lined pan and baked until set. This yields brownies with a traditional texture and chocolate taste. Optional add-ins such as nuts, chocolate chips, or coconut can be mixed in for variation.

Prepared in advance, the mix keeps in a sealed container for up to three months at room temperature, allowing for easy baking anytime. This approach saves time and ingredients during busy periods while still producing fresh brownies.
