Homemade Caramel Sauce Recipe

This homemade caramel sauce is crafted from granulated sugar, water, butter, and heavy cream, producing a smooth and rich syrup with a deep amber color. The sauce offers a buttery sweetness tempered by the creamy texture, making it versatile for desserts or toppings. The method requires careful heating to achieve the right caramelization without burning the sugar.

Description

Homemade Caramel Sauce Recipe uses simple ingredients: sugar, water, butter, and heavy cream. The process begins by boiling sugar and water without stirring, reaching a light amber hue indicative of caramelization. Butter is then incorporated to enrich the sauce, followed by careful addition of cream off the heat to create a silky texture. Reheating briefly can thicken the sauce if desired.

The resulting sauce balances sweetness with a buttery, creamy mouthfeel, suitable for drizzling over ice cream, cakes, or fruit. Its smooth texture and glossy appearance enhance various desserts.

Store the sauce in a jar in the refrigerator for up to 10 days, stirring gently before use. Using medium to medium-low heat during cooking helps avoid burning the sugar. Brown sugar can be substituted, and adding salt yields a salted caramel variation.
