Try this easy homemade cream of chicken soup next time you need a can for your favorite recipe. It is cheaper and much healthier to make at home.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, milk, flour, poultry seasoning, garlic salt and pepper.
  2. Pour this mixture into a medium saucepan and heat over medium high heat.
  3. Continue to cook on medium heat and whisk for 3-5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  4. Allow it to cool (it will thicken more as it cools).
  5. Once cooled slightly the cream of chicken soup is ready to use and enjoy!

Notes

  • This makes one can of cream of chicken soup (10.5 ounce can). You can easily double, or triple this recipe and freeze into your own "cans" to use in your favorite recipes.
