Homemade Eggnog (Small-Batch)

This Homemade Eggnog (Small-Batch) recipe uses egg yolks whisked with sugar and vanilla, tempered with heated milk and cream, then gently cooked until slightly thickened. Spiced with freshly grated nutmeg and cinnamon, the result is a creamy, rich holiday beverage served chilled for smooth texture and warm spice notes.

Description

The Homemade Eggnog starts by whisking egg yolks with granulated sugar and vanilla extract until lightened in color. Warmed whole milk combined with heavy cream is gradually added to the egg mixture, tempering the eggs to avoid scrambling. This mixture is then returned to the heat and stirred until slightly thickened, creating a custard-like base. Ground cinnamon and freshly grated nutmeg add aromatic, warm spices typical of traditional eggnog.

After cooking, the eggnog is strained to remove any solids and cooled before chilling in the refrigerator. Served cold, it offers a smooth, creamy drink with a balance of sweetness and spice perfect for festive occasions.
