Ingredients
- ½ cup butter (1 stick) softened
- 4 cloves garlic minced (see notes for subs)
- ½ cup Parmesan Cheese grated (see notes for subs)
- ¼ cup fresh parsley minced (see notes for subs)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 loaf French bread
Instructions
Get prepped
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F, and line a baking sheet with foil, parchment or a silicone mat.
Make the garlic butter
- In a small bowl, mash together the softened butter, garlic, half of the parmesan, parsley and olive oil until well combined.
Assembly
- Cut the bread in half lengthwise
- Slather the garlic butter evenly over both pieces, and sprinkle remaining parmesan cheese over the top.
Bake
- Bake in the oven for 8 -10 minutes until golden brown (keep an eye on it).
Slice and devour.
Notes
- Substitutions
- Parsley - can sub 1 Tbs Italian Seasoning if preferred.
- Parmesan – if you don’t have fresh, use the green canned kind.
- Garlic powder can be used in place of fresh garlic. Use 1/2 teaspoon for every clove (so in this case, you'll need 2 tsp). Avoid the jarred garlic if you can. Since garlic is a prominent feature of this bread, fresh garlic just tastes better.
- Storing leftovers
- Leftover garlic bread can be wrapped in foil and refrigerated for up to 2 days. To reheat, bake the wrapped bread at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes until heated through.
- Freezing instructions
- This recipe can also be frozen before baking. Cover tightly with foil and wrap with plastic wrap. Freeze.
- Remove from the freezer, and bake as directed, adding an extra 5-10 minutes on if not thawed.
