Homemade Hummus Recipe

Homemade hummus blends tahini, canned chickpeas, garlic, and lemon juice into a creamy dip. The recipe uses cold water and olive oil to adjust the texture until it is smooth and spreadable. The addition of cumin and salt balances the flavors, making it suitable for serving with fresh vegetables or pita bread. A drizzle of olive oil and paprika enhances the presentation and adds subtle taste notes.

Description

The Homemade Hummus Recipe combines tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and canned chickpeas in a food processor until completely smooth, with cold water added as needed for a creamy consistency. Olive oil and ground cumin incorporate savory richness and depth. It's chilled in the refrigerator before serving, which helps the flavors meld and the texture firm slightly.

This dip offers a thick yet smooth texture that pairs well with fresh vegetables and pita bread, making it a versatile appetizer or snack for casual or small social settings. The final garnish of olive oil and paprika contributes a visual appeal as well as a mild richness and slight smoky note.

The simple ingredients and straightforward preparation make it a practical choice when you want freshly made hummus without the additives found in store-bought versions. The recipe yields a balanced and adaptable dip suitable for various accompaniments.
