Homemade KFC Bowls
Description
This recipe constructs a layered casserole beginning with frozen, crispy chicken strips baked to a hot, crisp finish. Mashed potatoes form the base layer, overlaid with corn and gravy for moisture and savory depth. Placing the cooked chicken strips atop these layers allows the crust to remain crisp when baked further under shredded cheddar cheese.
Baking the assembled dish melts the cheese and heats all components evenly, blending textures from creamy potato and corn to crispy chicken with a gravy coating. The balance of flavors includes mild cheddar, poultry, and vegetables, making it hearty and filling.
This bowl-style casserole is a convenient way to combine leftovers or prepared components into a warming, layered meal. It is suitable for casual dinners and can be adjusted for other gravies or cheese types. Using quality prepared ingredients saves time.
