Homemade Meatball Sub

Report
The Homemade Meatball Sub features warm meatballs simmered in marinara sauce, loaded inside toasted sub rolls and topped with melted gouda cheese for a comforting sandwich. Baking the sub briefly melts the cheese and crisps the bread, creating a satisfying texture contrast. This sandwich combines rich, savory meatballs with creamy cheese and tangy sauce, making it an easy-to-prepare meal that works well for lunch or casual dinners.

Description

Homemade Meatball Sub brings together cooked meatballs heated in marinara sauce and layered inside sliced sub rolls. The addition of gouda cheese slices under the broiler softens them to a creamy consistency while the bread toasts to a slightly crisp finish. This melding of tender meatballs with melted gouda and flavorful tomato sauce produces a well-rounded savory sandwich with soft and crunchy elements.

The sub rolls provide a sturdy base that holds the meatballs and melted cheese well, making it easy to enjoy without heavy mess. It suits a casual meal where melting cheese quickly without losing the sandwich form is the goal.

To enhance the flavor and texture further, brushing the top of the bread with melted garlic butter before baking adds a subtle richness and aroma. Substitutions like swapping marinara for BBQ sauce or adding fresh vegetables can customize the sandwich to taste.
