Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 14 ounces mushrooms sliced ⅛" thick white, button, or Cremini
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic finely minced
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup Butter, unsalted
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups low-sodium beef broth,
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Kosher salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
Instructions
- Add 2 tablespoons olive oil to a large skillet and heat over medium-high heat. Add 14 ounces mushrooms sliced ⅛" thick and 1/2 onion, chopped, and cook for 7-8 minutes or until tender.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and 1 teaspoon garlic finely minced and cook for an additional minute. Remove the mushrooms from the skillet and set aside.
- Returning to the same skillet, melt 1/4 cup butter, over medium heat. Sprinkle in the 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, whisking to create a thick paste.
- Pour in 2 cups low-sodium beef broth, and whisk to combine. Continue to heat for 3-5 minutes, whisking periodically until the gravy thickens.
- Once thickened, add the cooked mushrooms and onions back to the gravy. Add 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce and 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme. Stir to combine and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Season to taste with additional Kosher salt and pepper to taste if needed. Enjoy over potatoes and paired with your favorite beef, pork, or chicken.
