Homemade Nestle Crunch Bar Recipe

Homemade Nestle Crunch Bars are chocolate and coconut oil melted together, mixed with crispy rice cereal, then chilled until firm. These no-bake bars offer a crunchy texture and chocolatey taste reminiscent of a classic candy bar, with the optional sprinkle of sea salt adding a subtle contrast to sweetness.

Description

This recipe involves melting good-quality chocolate chips with coconut oil over simmering water until smooth. The melted chocolate is then combined with rice cereal to coat it evenly, producing a crunchy mixture that is pressed into a prepared baking pan lined with parchment paper. Chilling the mixture in the refrigerator or freezer allows it to set into firm bars that hold their shape well.

The texture is crisp from the puffed rice and smooth from the chocolate coating, creating a simple treat similar to a Nestle Crunch bar. The optional addition of sea salt flakes on top enhances the flavor complexity. Cutting the set chocolate into bars of desired size makes it convenient for serving or snacking.

Ensure the parchment paper extends beyond the pan edges to facilitate easy removal and cutting. Store the bars in an airtight container or zipper bag at room temperature for up to five days to maintain freshness and prevent drying out. They can also be decorated for special occasions using sprinkles.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 ½ cups chocolate chips good quality
  • 1 TBS coconut oil
  • 3 cups rice cereal
  • sea salt for garnish, flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare an 8×8 baking pan by lining it with parchment paper. Make sure there is plenty of parchment paper on the sides so you can lift it out of the square pan once the bars are done.
  2. Melt the chocolate chips, bring a small pot of water to a simmer over medium heat. Put the chocolate chips and coconut oil into a heat proof bowl. Place the bowl over the boiling pot of water.
  3. Heat the chocolate chips, stirring occasionally, until the chocolate is smooth and melted.
  4. Remove the melted chocolate from the heat and stir in the rice cereal.
  5. Pour the rice cereal mixture into the prepared 8×8 pan. Flatten down the mixture using a wooden spoon or spatula.
  6. Chill the crunch bars in the fridge for about 2 hours or 30 minutes in the freezer.
  7. Remove the pan from the fridge and firmly lift the two sides of the parchment paper to remove from the pan.
  8. Slice the candy into bars using a sharp knife. I recommend cutting them into about 8 slices, but make them any size you want! If you like the mini Nestle crunch bars, you can make minis!
  9. If you'd like to decorate the bars, you can dip them in more melted chocolate or drizzle it on top to give the sea salt something to stick to.
  10. Sprinkle with sea salt flakes for garnish if desired.
  11. Place final bars on a baking sheet and allow them final chocolate to harden before serving.

Notes

  • Line the pan with parchment paper extending beyond the edges for easy removal and cutting.
  • Store bars in an airtight container or a sealable plastic bag at room temperature for up to five days to avoid drying.
  • Add sea salt or sprinkles on top to customize the bars for different occasions.
