Homemade Pecan Pie Recipe

Homemade Pecan Pie combines a flaky pie crust with a rich filling of eggs, sugars, corn syrup, butter, vanilla, and coarsely chopped pecans baked until set. The glossy filling holds the pecans suspended evenly, offering a sweet and nutty dessert with a tender, custard-like texture balanced by crunchy nuts. It’s a classic pie often enjoyed for dessert or special occasions.

Description

This Homemade Pecan Pie Recipe starts with a single 9-inch unbaked pie crust filled with a mixture of eggs, cornstarch, granulated and brown sugars, corn syrup, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Coarsely chopped pecans are folded in before the filling is poured into the crust. Baking at 350°F for 55 to 65 minutes allows the filling to set while the crust bakes to a golden finish.

The pie filling develops a sticky, sweet, and smooth texture that contrasts with the roasted crunch of the pecans distributed throughout. Allowing the pie to cool thoroughly for at least two hours is necessary to firm up the filling, making it easier to slice and serve.

For preparation convenience, this pie can be made ahead and stored at room temperature for up to 48 hours or frozen after baking for up to two months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight and bring to room temperature before serving to enjoy the flavors fully.
