Homemade White Cake

This homemade white cake is easy, light and delicious! Easy to whip up in one bowl, no special mixer or equipment required. It's the best white cake recipe!

For the Cake

  • 3 ½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ¾ cup neutral cooking oil generic cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 egg white
  • 2 cups water

For the Icing

  • 12 tablespoons butter softened
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 7 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

For the Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar. 
  3. Add oil, vinegar, extracts, egg whites, and water. 
  4. Whisk until combined. 
  5. Pour into a greased 9x13 baking dish. 
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. 

For the Icing

  1. Whisk together butter and vanilla extract. 
  2. Add in the powdered sugar gradually. Drizzle in heavy cream gradually until the icing is smooth. 
  3. Whip for about 5 minutes. 
  4. Ice cake once cooled.
