Honey Glazed Salmon with Lime
Description
The recipe calls for pan-searing salmon filets seasoned with salt and pepper in olive oil, then drizzling a bit of honey onto each piece to create a lightly caramelized crust during cooking. After flipping, the salmon finishes cooking until just flaky, preserving moisture and texture.
Meanwhile, a sauce is prepared by browning butter and adding minced garlic, honey, and fresh lime juice, which gives a warm, sweet-nutty flavor with citrusy brightness. This sauce is poured over the cooked salmon to complement its richness and add moisture.
Serve immediately to enjoy the contrast of the crisp, honeyed exterior and tender salmon inside. The lime's acidity balances the sweetness, making this dish suitable for a main course paired with simple sides.
Leftovers should be refrigerated promptly in an airtight container and consumed within three days to retain freshness.
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 4 salmon filets
- 5 Tbsp honey (divided)
- 6 Tbsp butter
- 1 Tbsp garlic minced
- 1 lime (juiced)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Heat up a cast iron skillet on medium high heat. Drizzle the olive oil into the pan.
- Season salmon with the salt and pepper.
- Add the salmon filets to the skillet and drizzle about a tablespoon of honey on each salmon filet. Allow it to cook for 3 minutes on medium high heat. You want to be the beautiful brown crust on the salmon before you flip it.
- Flip and cook another 2 to 3 minutes until done and fish is flakey. Remove from heat.
- Meanwhile melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, whisking constantly until the butter begins to turn a golden brown (about 3 minutes).
- Stir in the garlic, 1 Tablespoon of honey, and the fresh squeezed lime juice.
- Remove the salmon from the heat and drizzle the honey butter sauce over the cooked salmon.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
