Honey Lemon Garlic Salmon
Description
This recipe prepares salmon fillets by brushing them with a sauce combining melted butter, sweet honey (which can be substituted with pure maple syrup), grainy Dijon mustard, fresh lemon juice and zest, garlic powder or minced garlic, along with salt and freshly ground black pepper. The salmon is placed skin side down on a lined baking sheet to ensure even cooking and easy cleanup.
Baked at 400°F for about 16 to 18 minutes, the salmon develops a tender, flaky texture with a slightly caramelized exterior from the honey and lemon glaze. The combination of citrus brightness, garlic warmth, and subtle mustard tang complements the natural richness of the salmon without overpowering it.
Serving immediately maintains the salmon's moisture and delicate texture. This straightforward preparation suits pairing with simple sides like steamed vegetables, rice, or salad for a balanced meal. Adjusting the baking time within the suggested range helps achieve preferred doneness.
Ingredients
- 1 pound salmon
- 2 tablespoons butter melted
- 2 tablespoons honey or sub pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard preferably grainy dijon
- ½ lemon juiced
- lemon zest from 1
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder or 3 cloves garlic, minced
- salt freshly ground
- black pepper freshly ground
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and grease lightly with olive oil or nonstick cooking spray. Place salmon skin side down.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, honey, dijon, lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic powder and salt and pepper. Generously brush the salmon with the marinade.
- Place salmon in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until salmon easily flakes with a fork. Mine is always perfect at 16-18 minutes. Enjoy immediately.
