Honey Vanilla Frozen Yogurt

Honey Vanilla Frozen Yogurt blends whole milk yogurt with honey, vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, and heavy cream churned into a smooth, creamy frozen dessert. This combination creates a lightly sweet, subtly vanilla-flavored treat that is softer than traditional ice cream, ideal for a refreshing dessert.

Description

This frozen yogurt recipe mixes whole milk yogurt with honey and vanilla flavoring, balanced with a pinch of salt to enhance sweetness. Adding heavy cream and thoroughly whisking the mixture creates a rich base with a smooth texture when churned in an ice cream machine. Chilling before freezing helps reduce iciness and improves creaminess.

The final frozen yogurt offers a creamy texture with a gentle honey sweetness and vanilla aroma, making it a pleasing alternative to heavier ice creams. The recipe allows flexibility in chilling time to adjust texture based on preference.

For best outcomes, chill the yogurt mixture thoroughly before churning in the ice cream maker, then freeze for several hours to allow firming. Shorter freezing can result in a less creamy, icier texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 1/3 cup whole milk yogurt not Greek-style, I used Brown Cow Cream Top
  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • salt pinch
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the yogurt, honey, salt, and vanilla, until smooth.
  2. Add the cream, and whisk until combined. If possible, chill the mixture until cold.
  3. Pour your chilled mixture into an ice cream machine, and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  4. Spread the ice cream into a freezer safe container and freeze for several hours to allow it to firm up before serving.

Notes

  • Chilling the mixture for a few hours before processing improves texture and reduces iciness in the frozen yogurt.
  • If you freeze the yogurt for less time, expect a softer but somewhat icier result.
  • Use whole milk yogurt that is not Greek-style for the proper consistency.
