Horchata

A recipe for Horchata! This refreshing drink has a decadent blend of condensed milk, evaporated milk, cinnamon, almond, and rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 ounces / 390 grams
  • 1 can evaporated milk 12 ounces / 335 grams
  • 2/3 cup water 165 milliliters
  • 2 tablespoons long-grain rice raw
  • 2 tablespoons almond flour or almond meal
  • 4 cinnamon sticks 3 inch/7.5 centimeter
  • ground cinnamon for garnish

Instructions

  1. Whisk the condensed milk, evaporated milk, and 2/3 cup (165 milliliters) water together in a pitcher, making sure to completely combine the two canned milks.
  2. Add the rice and almond flour and whisk again.
  3. Add the cinnamon sticks, cover, and refrigerate for at least 12 and up to 24 hours.
  4. Strain into a bowl, pressing hard on the solids. Discard the solids.
  5. Return the milk mixture to the pitcher. Divide among four tall ice-filled glasses and sprinkle each with ground cinnamon.
