Hot Fudge Sauce

Hot Fudge Sauce is a smooth, rich chocolate topping made by melting chocolate chips and butter with sugar, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract. Cooked to a gentle boil and stirred constantly, the sauce thickens to a glossy texture ideal for drizzling over ice cream, desserts, or fruit. It stores well refrigerated and can be briefly reheated before serving.

Description

This Hot Fudge Sauce recipe combines melted butter, chocolate, and salt as a base, to which confectioners sugar and evaporated milk are added and cooked together over low heat. The mixture is brought to a boil while stirring constantly to dissolve the sugar and thicken the sauce consistently. Vanilla extract is added at the end for aroma and complexity.

The sauce develops a glossy, thick, pourable texture suitable for topping ice cream and other desserts. Its balance of creamy butter, rich chocolate, and sweet sugar creates a classic hot fudge flavor. It can be poured fresh or stored in jars within the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Reheating is done carefully and briefly in the microwave to avoid scorching or separating. The recipe is flexible with chocolate type, allowing milk, semi-sweet, dark, or bittersweet chocolate chips or chopped bars.
