  • 3 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • ¼ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Guittard is my favorite
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • cup evaporated milk One 12-ounce can will make a double batch of hot fudge. Just double the other 3 ingredients as well.

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, stir together butter and chocolate, until chocolate is melted.
  2. Stir in powdered sugar and evaporated milk. Mixture will be very thin. Increase heat to slightly more than medium and bring mixture to a low boil. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring continuously, until thickened.
  3. Remove saucepan from heat and let cool for 5 to 10 minutes. It will thicken more, the longer it cools.

Notes

  • The recipe yields about 1 cup of hot fudge sauce; scale ingredient quantities accordingly for larger batches.
  • To increase chocolate flavor, use twice the amount of chocolate chips while keeping other ingredients unchanged.
  • Store leftover sauce covered in the refrigerator for up to three weeks to maintain freshness.
  • Reheat gently on the stove or microwave to restore a smooth pouring consistency without breaking the sauce.
