Hot Fudge Sauce Recipe for One

This Hot Fudge Sauce recipe makes a rich and smooth chocolate sauce using simple ingredients like cocoa powder, butter, sugar, milk, and vanilla. It thickens on the stove in just a few minutes and is ideal for topping ice cream, brownies, or pancakes. The sauce's texture is creamy and glossy, balancing sweetness with a hint of cocoa bitterness. This single-serving recipe is practical for quick indulgence without leftovers.

Description

The Hot Fudge Sauce Recipe for One combines granulated sugar and cocoa powder, then melts butter to create a base for the sauce. Milk is whisked in gradually, and continuous stirring helps the mixture thicken into a smooth, bubbling consistency. Removing it from heat before adding vanilla extract ensures the flavor is preserved while allowing the sauce to cool slightly and thicken further. The result is a pourable, velvety sauce with a balanced chocolate flavor.

This sauce works well as a topping for various desserts such as ice cream and brownies, adding a homemade chocolate touch without the need for a large batch. It's a convenient sauce to have ready when you want a quick chocolate addition in small portions.

The note suggests adding a pinch of salt if using unsalted butter to enhance the flavor profile. The recipe is straightforward and requires minimal ingredients and time, suitable for single servings without waste.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar 25g
  • 1 heaping tablespoon cocoa powder 8 grams
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter 14g
  • 2 tablespoons milk any percentage
  • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine sugar and cocoa powder. Stir together and set aside.
  2. In a small saucepan, over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in milk followed by the sugar and cocoa powder mixture. Whisk continuously, beating out any lumps as they form, until mixture begins to thicken and bubble 2-3 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and continue whisking for about 30 seconds to cool the sauce slightly before whisking in the vanilla. Allow to sit and thicken for 2 to 3 minutes. Serve over ice cream, brownies, or pancakes and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use salted butter for best flavor; if using unsalted, add a pinch of salt to balance the taste.
