How to Cook Slow Cooker Rice

Report
This method shows how to cook rice in a slow cooker using water, butter, and sea salt for seasoning. The rice is rinsed well, then cooked on high for about two hours with occasional stirring to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking. The result is tender, fluffy rice made with minimal active attention.

Description

Cooking rice in a slow cooker begins by rinsing the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch. The slow cooker bowl is greased with butter to prevent sticking. Then rinsed rice is combined with water, sea salt, and butter before cooking on high heat for two hours. The rice is stirred after one hour, again at 90 minutes, and then every ten minutes to promote even cooking and prevent the grains from clumping.

The slow cooker produces rice with a tender texture, absorbing water evenly over the cooking period. Butter adds a subtle richness, while salt seasons the rice to taste. The frequent stirring during the last phase is essential to avoid rice sticking to the cooker bowl.

This method is useful when stove space is limited or for hands-off rice preparation, allowing other dishes to be made simultaneously. Fluffing the rice with a fork after cooking ensures separation of grains for a pleasant serving texture.
