- 8 oz tempeh
Instructions
- Cut: Decide how to cut your tempeh - triangles, cubes, slices, or crumbled with a box grater*.
- Steam: Prepare a pot of boiling water with a steamer basket. Set tempeh inside, cover, and let steam for 10 minutes (this removes a lot of the natural bitter flavor).
- Marinate: Choose a flavor to marinate your tempeh in (8 tempeh marinade flavors here). Let it marinate for 30 minutes up to 24 hours.
- Cook: Arrange tempeh in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F (204°C) for about 15 minutes.
Notes
- *Crumbled tempeh, unlike the other ways of cutting, is best cooked on the stove! Simply add to a pan with a splash of oil (and your favorite spices) over medium heat and cook until soft. (Here's our guide to cooking crumbled tempeh!)
- Storage: Plain tempeh can be stored in the fridge for up to a week. Cut and marinated tempeh can be stored for about a day. After cooking, it can be stored for three more days. Just ensure it's in an airtight container!
