How to Make Applesauce in the Slow Cooker
Description
How to Make Applesauce in the Slow Cooker involves peeling, coring, and slicing eight medium apples placed in a nonstick sprayed slow cooker. Adding a strip of lemon peel, lemon juice, light brown sugar, and a cinnamon stick creates subtle acidity and warm spice. Cooking on low for six hours with occasional stirring slowly breaks down the apples into a tender mixture.
This method results in softly cooked apples infused with cinnamon and lemon flavors. Leaving the sauce chunky preserves some natural fruit texture, or blending once cooled produces a smooth applesauce. The slow cooker technique is hands-off and produces consistent, flavorful results without stovetop monitoring.
The finished applesauce can be stored in an airtight container refrigerated for up to a week or frozen for longer keeping. The balance of sweetness from brown sugar and brightness from lemon juice creates a versatile applesauce suitable for eating alone or as an accompaniment.
Ingredients
- 8 apple medium
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 lice lemon peel
- 5 tsp light brown sugar unpacked
- 1 tick cinnamon

- Using a vegetable peeler, peel a single slice of peel from the lemon and drop into the slow cooker with the apples
- Add 1 teaspoon lemon juice over the apples from the lemon you just peeled
- Add the brown sugar then stir to mix all ingredients with the apples
- Place your cinnamon stick in the slow cooker with the mixture, then place the lid to seal.
