Ingredients

  • 1 baguette thinly sliced on a bias
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted, or olive oil
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°.
  2. Slice the bread on a bias about a 1/2” inch thick.
  3. Place the bread slices on a sheet tray lined with parchment paper. If you have a lot of slices, you may need 2 sheet trays.
  4. Evenly brush the melted butter or olive oil onto each bread slice.
  5. Season them with salt and pepper.
  6. Bake in the oven at 375° for 15 to 20 minutes or until browned around the edges and firm in the center, like a crust.
  7. Cool and serve.

Notes

  • Make-Ahead: You can make this recipe up to 2 days ahead of time.
  • How to Store: Cover and keep at room temperature for up to 5 days.  Cover and refrigerate for up to 7 days.  These do not freeze well.
  • You can eat this as soon as they are done baking.
  • Slicing on a bias means cutting it at a slight angle.
  • You can enhance the flavor of these crostini by evenly sprinkling on 1 tablespoon of garlic granules, 1 tablespoon of onion granules, 1 tablespoon of dry thyme, or a combination.
