Ingredients
- 3 large russet potatoes cleaned
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 cups ice cold water
- 1/3 cup vegetable or canola oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon blackened seasoning
Instructions
- Cut 3 potatoes into ¼- ½” matchsticks and rinse under water to remove some of the starch. I kept the peel on, but you can choose to peel your potatoes.
- Combine salt and ice-cold water into a bowl.
- Place chopped potatoes into bowl and soak for 5-10 minutes.
- Pat potatoes dry and place in a dish and work in batches by laying potatoes in a single layer. Microwave covered for 3-4 minutes or until almost fork tender.
- Pour vegetable oil onto a sheet pan or 9x13 inch dish.
- Place pan in oven and turn on broiler on low. Broil oil on low for 2-3 minutes or until oil has heated. Watch it closely!
- Sprinkle potatoes with garlic salt, oregano, and blackened seasoning
- Take pan out of oven and carefully arrange potatoes on top of oil in a single layer.
- Place fries in oven on middle rack and cook for 5 minutes on low broil or until golden brown.
- Turn fries over and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes or until golden brown and fork tender.
Notes
- For even crispier fries, turn on oven to 350 degrees and cook fries for 20 minutes or until they have reached your desired crispiness.
