How to Make Mozzarella Sticks

Feel free to indulge in this 'healthier' alternative to deep fried mozzarella sticks. They are crispy, gooey and easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup breadcrumbs Italian style
  • 2/3 cup panko bread crumbs italian style
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan Cheese finely grated
  • 1 1/2 tbsp coconut oil melted, or butter
  • 3 egg beaten
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 24 mozzarella cheese cut half, sticks

Instructions

  1. Combine the breadcrumbs, Panko and parmesan cheese in a bowl
  2. Add melted coconut oil or butter and mix with fingers until it is equally absorbed, set aside
  3. In another bowl crack three eggs. Whisk thoroughly, set aside.
  4. In a third bowl, add 1/2 cup flour.
  5. Make sure cheese sticks are unwrapped and cut in half
  6. Working one at a time, dip cheese stick into the flour first, then into the egg, then into the breadcrumb mixture on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  7. When finished, put in cheese sticks in the freezer for at least an hour.
  8. When ready to cook, preheat oven to 400°F. Keep cheese sticks frozen until ready to put in the oven.
  9. Place desired amount on a parchment lined baking sheet and cook for 5 minutes.
  10. Flip the them over and cook another 3-5 minutes.
  11. Alternatively, preheat the air-fryer to 380°F. Place in the air fryer basket in a single layer, not touching, and cook for 6-8 minutes, or until golden.

Notes

  • Serve with marinara sauce. Once frozen, place extra cheese sticks in a freezer safe ziplock bag and store in the freezer for up to 6 months.
