How to make Peanut Butter Balls

Peanut Butter Balls are bite-sized confections combining creamy peanut butter, butter, powdered sugar, and crisp Rice Krispies cereal, coated in smooth melted chocolate. Freezing the formed balls before dipping helps the chocolate shell harden quickly, making these a rich, textured candy ideal for snacking or gifting.

Description

This recipe melts butter and creamy peanut butter together to create a smooth base. Powdered sugar and Rice Krispies cereal are stirred in to add sweetness and a crispy texture. The mixture is spooned into small balls, rolled smooth, and frozen to firm up for easier chocolate coating.

While the peanut butter balls chill, chocolate and vegetable oil are melted to a smooth consistency. Each frozen ball is dipped into the melted chocolate, covered completely, and placed back on parchment paper to harden. The vegetable oil helps the chocolate coat evenly and gives a glossy finish.

Once coated and chilled until firm, these peanut butter balls offer a creamy, nutty center wrapped in a crisp chocolate shell. They are easy to prepare in advance and serve as festive treats or straightforward homemade candies.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1/4 cup butter salted
  • 1 cup peanut butter creamy
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 cup melting chocolate or chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, measure out the butter and peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals until completely melted and smooth; should take about 1 1/2 minutes.
  2. Stir in powdered sugar and rice Krispies and gently incorporate until fully mixed together.
  3. Using a 2 teaspoon cookie scoop, scoop mixture into 24 even balls. Roll in between palms to smooth completely. Place onto a parchment (or wax) paper-lined baking sheet. Freeze 10 minutes.
  4. While peanut butter balls are freezing, melt chocolate and vegetable oil together in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals until completely melted and smooth.
  5. Drop the frozen balls one at a time into the melted chocolate. Use a fork to roll ball evenly in chocolate. Lift ball out of the chocolate with the prongs of the fork and tap gently to remove any excess chocolate. Place back on parchment paper.
  6. Continue coating balls in chocolate until they are all coated. Chill until chocolate hardens. Serve.
