How To Make The Best Ever Air Fryer Fries
Description
This recipe calls for peeling and cutting large potatoes into chip-sized fries. The potatoes soak in cold water refrigerated for 15 minutes, which helps reduce surface starch, improving crispiness. After draining, the fries are tossed with extra virgin olive oil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to flavor the potatoes evenly. The fries are cooked in an air fryer basket first at 160°C (320°F) for 15 minutes to cook them through gently.
Once the initial cooking finishes, the fries are shaken to redistribute and then cooked for an additional 5 minutes at a higher temperature of 200°C (400°F) to achieve crispness and golden edges. This two-stage cooking ensures a tender inside and crispy outside. The fries are best served hot.
For cooking, use an air fryer and adjust time if your machine runs hotter. Variations in oil type are possible depending on preferences. Portion size adjustments affect cooking duration slightly. These fries offer a more convenient way to prepare crisp fries without deep frying, suitable as a side or snack.
Reduce cooking time and temperature if using a powerful air fryer to avoid overcooking. Adjust seasoning and oil use based on personal taste and guidance from your air fryer’s manual.
