Iced Banana Nut Bread

Iced Banana Nut Bread is a moist loaf combining ripe bananas, melted butter, and a balance of sugars for sweetness and depth. Chopped walnuts add crunch throughout. The loaf is topped with a simple vanilla glaze made from powdered sugar and milk, adding a sweet finish and contrast to the rich banana flavor. This bread suits breakfast or snack times.

Description

This Iced Banana Nut Bread features a batter made by blending melted butter with both white and dark brown sugars, then adding eggs, vanilla extract, sour cream, and ripe mashed bananas. The sour cream contributes moisture and tenderness. Dry ingredients include flour, baking soda, and salt, which are folded in along with chopped walnuts for texture and nuttiness.

The batter is baked in a greased loaf pan until a toothpick comes out clean, yielding a golden brown bread with a moist, tender crumb and nut-studded slices. While still warm, it is finished with a vanilla glaze created by whisking powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla, which soaks into the top slightly for a sweet, glossy layer.

This bread is ideal for serving as a breakfast treat or afternoon snack, with the nuts providing contrast to the sweetness and softness of the banana bread. The glaze delivers an additional layer of sweetness and visual appeal.
