Instant Pot Apple Dumplings

Instant Pot Apple Dumplings wrap peeled apple wedges in crescent roll dough, then cook them under pressure with butter, brown sugar, spices, and apple cider. The result is tender pastry with soft, spiced apple filling and a sweet syrup from the cooking liquid, served warm for a comforting dessert with balanced tartness and sweetness.

Description

Instant Pot Apple Dumplings combine Granny Smith apple wedges wrapped in crescent roll dough. Butter, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg are melted together in the pot, creating a spiced syrup when cooked with the dumplings.

Cooking under high pressure for 10 minutes softens the dough and apple simultaneously, infusing the dessert with warm spices and apple cider flavor. The natural tartness of the Granny Smith apples balances the sweetness of the topping and syrup.

Serve the dumplings warm, drizzled with the reduced syrup from the pot for a cozy dessert. Adjust sugar as needed if using a less tart apple variety.

  • pinch ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup apple cider (NOT vinegar! Apple Cider Juice only)

  2. Open the can of crescent rolls and roll the dough out flat. Roll each wedge of apple in 1 crescent roll.
  3. Add the butter to the Instant Pot and select Cancel. Add the sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg and stir until melted.
  4. Place the dumplings side by side in the Instant Pot. Drizzle the apple cider along the edges. Secure the lid.
  5. Select Manual and cook at high pressure for 10 minutes.
  6. Once cooking is complete, use a natural release. Let it cool for a few minutes and serve warm, drizzled with the sugar and cider syrup.

Notes

  • Granny Smith apples offer tartness that complements the sweet syrup; reduce sugar if using sweeter apple varieties.
