Instant Pot Frozen Vegetables

Instant Pot Frozen Vegetables is a straightforward method to steam mixed frozen veggies using an Instant Pot and a steamer basket. The cooking uses zero pressure cook time since frozen vegetables require minimal cooking, steaming them quickly and preserving texture. Seasoned with salt and pepper, they can be eaten as is or used as a base for other dishes.

Description

This recipe steams 1 kg of mixed frozen vegetables, such as carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli, in an Instant Pot using a steamer basket. The method involves adding water to the pot, setting the steamer basket and frozen vegetables inside, then cooking on high pressure for zero minutes—the time it takes the pot to reach pressure provides cooking. The quick release minimizes overcooking.

The vegetables remain tender with retained freshness due to the steaming process. Seasoning simply with salt and black pepper after cooking allows the natural flavors to remain prominent.

This steamed vegetable preparation can be served as a simple side dish or used in recipes requiring cooked vegetables. A common variation includes transferring the steamed vegetables to an air fryer to roast them for a crispier texture. Versatile seasoning options mean the vegetables can complement many meals.

The recipe notes emphasize that zero cooking minutes refer to pressure time, not counting the time to reach pressure. Adjust seasoning to preference once cooked.

  • Instant Pot

Ingredients

  • 1 kg mixed frozen vegetables

Notes

  • Season the steamed vegetables with salt and pepper or any preferred herbs and spices to taste after cooking.
  • The zero-minute cook time means the pressure cook duration is essentially the time needed for the Instant Pot to come to pressure before quick release.
  • For a crispier texture, transfer steamed vegetables to an air fryer after cooking and roast briefly.
