Instant Pot Ham and Bean Soup
Description
This recipe combines dry white beans, diced ham, chicken broth, carrots, celery, onion, and seasonings in an Instant Pot for a convenient, one-pot soup. Cooking under high pressure for 40 minutes softens the beans thoroughly and melds flavors quickly. The natural release allows residual heat to tenderize the ingredients further.
The soup develops a rich balance of smoky ham and earthy beans complemented by aromatic vegetables and Italian seasoning. Garlic powder, salt, and black pepper season the pot without overpowering the base flavors. Beans are added dry without rinsing to retain starch that helps thicken the soup during cooking.
This filling soup serves 6 to 8 and is suitable for a comforting lunch or dinner. It requires minimal prep and clean-up thanks to the Instant Pot. It can be served on its own or with crusty bread to soak up the broth.
The recipe notes that rinsing beans is optional. Stir the soup before serving to distribute ingredients evenly.
