Instant Pot Water Test

This Instant Pot Water Test guides you through using your pressure cooker with water only, ensuring it reaches pressure correctly. The process uses 3 liters of hot water, which helps the pot pressurize faster and safely check your Instant Pot's functioning without food inside. By following these steps, you confirm that the pot seals properly and the pressure release valve operates as intended.

Description

The Instant Pot Water Test is designed to verify that your pressure cooker is working correctly before cooking food. It requires filling the pot with 3 liters (9 cups) of hot water, which reduces the time needed to reach pressure compared to cold water. The test involves sealing the lid and running the pressure cook setting for 2 minutes. After the cooking phase, the pressure is released by moving the valve to venting. Removing the lid after de-pressurization reveals the pot filled with boiling water, confirming successful operation.

This test does not generate a prepared dish but serves as an essential step for beginners or those unfamiliar with their Instant Pot to ensure its safety and functionality. The boiling water left over can be repurposed for cooking or cleaning.

Using hot water reduces startup time and the test will help identify any leaks or issues with sealing and pressure release.
