Italian Turkey Meatballs Recipe
Description
This Italian Turkey Meatballs recipe uses 93% lean ground turkey mixed with breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, dried basil, egg, and water for a tender, flavorful mixture. Formed into small balls, the meatballs are placed on a foil-lined pan sprayed with cooking spray and broiled for about 10 minutes until just done, turning the tops sprayed for slight browning.
Once cooked, the meatballs are served immediately covered with warmed marinara sauce and garnished with fresh parsley. The broiling method avoids frying but still creates nicely cooked meatballs with a good texture. The marinara adds acidity and moisture, balancing the turkey's mild flavor.
These meatballs work well as a main course or with pasta. Leftovers store well in the fridge for up to four days or can be frozen for up to three months. Lean ground chicken can be substituted if desired.
