Jolly Rancher Suckers

Report
Jolly Rancher Suckers are homemade lollipops created by melting groups of Jolly Rancher candies on a baking sheet, then inserting a sucker stick before cooling. The melted candies combine colors and flavors to form bright, hard candy suckers. This DIY candy is fun to make and customize in size and flavor combinations, suitable for parties or a nostalgic treat.

Description

This recipe involves unwrapping Jolly Rancher candies and arranging them closely in groups of two or three on parchment-lined baking sheets. Baking at 250 degrees Fahrenheit melts the candies into colorful pools. When sufficiently melted and blended, a sucker stick is placed in each melted candy group and rolled to coat the stick.

After cooling, the candy hardens into lollipops with a glossy finish and firm texture. Varying the number of candies lets you control the sucker size and flavor intensity. The sweets retain the characteristic bold fruity flavors of Jolly Ranchers with a handmade twist.

These suckers are meant to be enjoyed immediately or wrapped for storage to maintain freshness. The straightforward technique appeals to home cooks wanting a hands-on candy-making project.

The step-by-step method emphasizes careful monitoring during melting to avoid burning and proper placement of sucker sticks for even coating and solid lollipop formation.

Ingredients

Servings
  • Jolly Ranchers (use 2-3 per sucker)
  • sucker sticks

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.
  3. Begin unwrapping the jolly rancher candies one at a time. Place them on the prepared baking sheet. You will want to set them next to each other, either in twos or threes. We liked doing 3s for a bigger lollipop.
  4. Make sure to keep the groupings separated (like in the picture).
  5. Bake for 5-8 minutes. Watch carefully. When they begin to melt and combine they are ready.
  6. Remove from the oven and immediately place a sucker stick in the sucker. Roll the sucker stick over to coat completely.
  7. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
  8. Enjoy immediately, or use a sucker wrapper to keep them longer.

Notes

  • Watch the candies closely while baking to prevent burning once melted.
  • Vary the number of candies per sucker to adjust size and flavor combinations.
  • Wrap suckers after cooling to keep them fresh longer.
