Juiciest Grilled Turkey Burgers
Description
Ground turkey is blended with freshly grated yellow onion, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, fresh parsley, onion powder, salt, and pepper, then gently formed into patties. Cooking over a preheated, greased grill at medium-high heat gives the burgers a charred surface while maintaining juicy interiors, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F for safety.
The flavor balances the sweetness and moisture of the onion and herbs with the tang of mustard and aromatic garlic. These burgers can be assembled on regular, keto, or lettuce buns with toppings like tomato, avocado, lettuce, and onion, offering flexibility for various diets.
For indoor cooking, a grill pan can substitute the outdoor grill with similar heat and oiling. Leftovers store well refrigerated and can be reheated in an air fryer or microwave. Proper cooling and airtight freezing preserve burgers up to three months.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey not 99%, 93% lean
- 1 small yellow onion or white onion
- 2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 2 - 3 garlic minced, cloves
- ¼ cup parsley finely chopped, fresh
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, add ground turkey. Then using a box grated shred the yellow onion on top of the turkey.
- Add in dijon mustard, garlic cloves, fresh parsley, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Gently mix with hands and form 4 to 5 equal-sized patties
- Clean the grill and heat to medium-high, between 375°F to 400°F. Make sure to grease your grill by using spray or dipping paper towels in oil and spreading across the grill. Read notes below if using a grill pan inside on stovetop.
- Place turkey burgers on the heated grill, cover with the lid and cook for 5 minutes until grill marks appear. Carefully flip the burgers on the grill for another 5 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Assemble your burgers on a regular or lettuce bun with red onion, avocado, tomato, lettuce, or toppings of your choice. If you are keto, use a lettuce bun or keto bun.
Notes
- Use ground turkey with about 93% lean content; avoid 99% lean for this recipe.
- Yellow onion may be substituted with white onion if preferred.
- Indoor grill pans work well with similar greasing and medium-high heat.
- Store cooked burgers in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 4 days.
- Reheat in an air fryer at 350°F for 3–5 minutes or microwave for 45–90 seconds.
- Allow grilled burgers to cool before freezing in an airtight bag for up to 3 months.
