Instructions

  2. Melt the 1 stick (4 oz) unsalted butter and 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate together in a large saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until combined.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the 1 cup granulated sugar.
  4. Add the 2 large eggs and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract and stir to make a smooth batter.
  5. Add the ¼ cup all-purpose flour, ¼ teaspoon salt, and 1 cup roughly chopped walnuts, if using, and stir until incorporated.
