Korean Beef Bowls

Ground beef is cooked with garlic and ginger, then simmered in a sauce made from sesame oil, brown sugar, and soy sauce thickened with cornstarch. The savory, slightly sweet meat is garnished with green onions and sesame seeds, then served over steamed rice and assorted steamed or sautéed vegetables for a balanced meal.

Description

The Korean Beef Bowls recipe starts with ground beef cooked until browned, then infused with minced garlic and fresh ginger for aromatic depth. A savory sauce created from sesame oil, brown sugar, and low-sodium soy sauce is simmered with the beef and thickened using cornstarch to coat the meat nicely. The final touch includes sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds for fresh and nutty notes. Served over steaming rice along with a medley of steamed or sautéed vegetables, this dish provides a hearty combination of textures and flavors, with a balance of sweet, salty, and umami elements.

The cooking method involves breaking up the beef while sautéing to ensure even browning, then simmering the meat in the sauce to absorb the flavors. Cornstarch slurry thickens the sauce for a glossy finish that clings to the meat well.

This bowl is commonly served as a main meal, with rice and vegetables providing a complete plate. The vegetables can vary depending on preference, making the dish flexible for what’s on hand.
