Korean Beef Bulgogi (Crazy Easy)

Korean Beef Bulgogi is thinly sliced ribeye marinated in a savory sauce made from soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, grated pear, ginger, and gochujang. The beef is marinated for at least two hours, then cooked quickly in a hot pan. It's finished with green onions and sesame seeds that add color and mild texture. The marinade balances sweet, savory, and spicy notes with tender beef slices quick-cooked for a rich and flavorful dish.

Description

Korean Beef Bulgogi uses thin slices of boneless ribeye steak cut against the grain to ensure tenderness. A marinade combines soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, pressed garlic, grated pear, grated fresh ginger, and gochujang (Korean red pepper paste) that imparts sweetness, umami, and mild heat. The meat soaks in this marinade for at least two hours in the refrigerator to absorb flavor.

Cooking is done over high heat in a cast iron pan, searing the beef quickly in batches so it retains juiciness and develops caramelized edges. The beef is cooked in a single layer to promote even browning. Afterwards, the dish is garnished with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds to add freshness and a nutty crunch.

This method produces thin, tender, and flavorful beef with the complex balance of tastes characteristic of bulgogi. The grated pear adds a natural sweetness and helps tenderize the meat. The gochujang adds color and mild spice to the marinade.
