  • 1 pound (500 grams) lean chopped or minced beef
  • 2 cloves garlic peeled and finely chopped
  • 5 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (30 grams) fresh mint leaves
  • 2 shallots peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions finely chopped
  • 2 stems fresh cilantro finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons toasted rice powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground chili
  • assorted vegetables for accompaniments

Instructions

  1. Place a large nonstick skillet or wok over medium heat without oil. Once heated, add the beef and garlic and cook, stirring often, until browned and cooked through, about 7 minutes.
  2. Transfer the cooked beef to a large bowl and allow to cool slightly.
  3. Mix in the lime juice, fish sauce, and salt. Add the mint leaves, shallots, green onions, cilantro stems, rice powder, and ground chili. Mix to combine.
  4. Serve on a platter with a variety of vegetables and accompany with sticky rice.
