Ingredients

Servings
  • 15 Oreo cookies
  • 12 ounces Candy Melts 1 bag, red
  • 2 teaspoons coconut oil
  • Sprinkles Valentine's themed
  • cookie icing black
  • 30 edible eyeballs

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet or a flat surface with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Follow the instructions on the package to melt the red candy melts in a bowl.
  3. Using your thumb and forefinger, grab an Oreo and dip each Oreo cookie into the red candy melts, ensuring it's coated but leaving space at the top of the ladybug's head.
  4. Lift the Oreo out and let any excess candy-coating drip back into the bowl.
  5. Place the dipped Oreos on the prepared parchment paper.
  6. Sprinkle the Valentine's Day sprinkles backs of the ladybugs (part dipped in red candy melts).
  7. Using the store-bought black cooking icing, make a stripe down the ladybugs' back to create the wing effect.
  8. Now, use the cookie icing as “glue” to add the edible candy eyes near the top center of each Oreo. These will be the ladybug's eyes.
  9. Allow the Ladybug Oreos to fully set and harden at room temperature or place them in the refrigerator for faster setting. Once the Ladybug Oreos are set, carefully remove them from the parchment paper.

Notes

  • Place these decorated oreos into an airtight container and store at room temperature for up to a week. I do not recommend storing in the fridge as any change in temp could create condensation and make the cookies soggy.
  • However, you can freeze these cookies! Keep them on the parchment paper on a baking sheet. Place into the freezer for about 2 hours until the cookies are frozen well. Then transfer to an airtight container or freezer bag and store in the freezer for 2-3 months.
