Lazy Day Lasagna uses frozen cheese ravioli as a convenient substitute for traditional pasta sheets layered with meat sauce and cheese. Ground beef is browned and combined with canned crushed tomatoes seasoned with Italian seasoning and garlic salt to create a rich, flavorful sauce. This mixture is layered over the ravioli in a baking dish with shredded mozzarella, then topped with parmesan cheese.

The casserole is baked covered, allowing the ravioli to cook through and the flavors to meld. Finishing uncovered lets the cheese brown slightly on top, adding a subtle crust and visual appeal. Letting the dish rest after baking helps it set and slice cleanly.

  • 25 oz cheese ravioli frozen
  • 1 lb ground beef (browned and drained)
  • 3 cans crushed tomatoes (15 oz cans)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 4 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese (shredded)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large skillet brown the beef completely and drain off any remaining fat.
  2. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and seasonings.
  3. Spray a 9X13 pan with non stick cooking spray.
  4. Place a layer of ravioli across the bottom of the pan.
  5. Spoon half the meat sauce over the ravioli.
  6. Then layer half of the mozzarella cheese on top of the meat sauce.
  7. Add another layer of ravioli, sauce, then cheese.
  8. Top with the shredded parmesan cheese.
  9. Cover with foil and Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes. Remove the foil and back for an additional 10-15 minutes to slightly brown the top of the lasagna.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it sit for about 10- 15 minutes before you serve. Cut and serve.
  11. Serve with your favorite side salad and crusty garlic bread.

Notes

  • This dish can be made with ground sausage or ground turkey as alternatives to beef.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 5-7 days.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven or microwave until warmed through.
