Lazy Day One Pot Spaghetti Recipe
Description
Lazy Day One Pot Spaghetti Recipe brings together ground beef, onions, and garlic browned in a pot before simmering with marinara sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper. Chicken broth is added to the sauce, and broken spaghetti noodles are stirred in and cooked uncovered, allowing the pasta to absorb the sauce and broth. Frequent stirring prevents sticking and ensures even cooking. The result is tender spaghetti coated in a meaty tomato sauce.
The cooking method reduces dishes and effort by combining all components in one pot. The finished dish is hearty and comforting, with familiar Italian flavors from oregano and Parmesan cheese. The optional Parmesan topping adds creaminess and a savory finish.
This recipe can be served as a complete meal on its own, suitable for busy days or casual dinners when convenience matters. Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated with extra broth to loosen absorbed sauce, preserving texture and moisture.
Using store-bought marinara simplifies the process but homemade sauce can be substituted. The key is simmering the pasta uncovered so it cooks properly in the liquid without becoming mushy.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 onion chopped
- 1 Tbsp garlic minced
- 2 jars marinara sauce (24 oz each)
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 12 oz spaghetti noodles
- 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese (optional for toppings)
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef with the onions. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add in the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Then stir in the marinara sauce, oregano, salt, pepper and chicken broth. Bring to a simmer and cook uncovered for approximately 10 minutes.
- Break the spaghetti noodles in half and stir them into the sauce. Stir to combine and cook at a simmer for 12-15 minutes stirring frequently to prevent the pasta from sticking together.
- After the cook time, check the pasta for tenderness and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the noodles are cooked to al dente.
- Serve topped with the Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley. Enjoy!
Notes
- Homemade marinara can replace store-bought for a fresher sauce flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 5 to 7 days.
- When reheating leftovers, add additional broth to thin the sauce and prevent the pasta from drying out.
